Admissions

Apply to SVU's tech programs.

One application opens both the bachelor's degree and the AI or Cybersecurity certificate inside it. Here's how the path works, from first application to first day on campus.

Students on the first day of classes at SVU

The process

From application to first day.

01

Apply to SVU

Submit your application through SVU's admissions portal. The same application that opens every SVU degree opens the tech track.

02

Indicate tech track

Flag Cybersecurity or Applied AI on your application so admissions can route you into the right first-year courses.

03

Receive admission + aid offer

SVU reviews your application and sends an offer with your financial aid package and any CREST credit award.

04

Enroll in first-year courses

Once admitted, you're auto-enrolled into the right first-year tech courses so you start on the integrated pathway from day one.

05

Start your degree

Begin a hybrid pathway of V School tech courses and SVU general education across your bachelor's.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is this a real bachelor's degree?

Yes. You earn a bachelor's degree from Southern Virginia University with an embedded certificate in AI or Cybersecurity. Both appear on your official SVU transcript.

Who teaches the tech courses?

V School instructors teach the eight tech courses inside the AI or Cybersecurity certificate. SVU faculty teach the general education, electives, and the "Why SVU" course.

Is the tech program Title IV eligible?

Yes. Because the certificate is embedded in a degree-bearing program at an accredited university, federal aid (Pell, Direct Loans) applies. FAFSA is the entry point.

How does CREST work with my GI Bill®?

CREST and GI Bill® stack. CREST awards credit for service. The GI Bill® funds tuition and housing for the remaining credits. Veterans typically arrive with the first year already complete and the rest funded.
